Please find below a FAQ for the Chat Rooms.
If you have a question that is not listed below then please feel free to ask Staff when in the Chat Rooms.

Q.) Hats? What are they?

Hats are worn by Staff and have a capital letter followed by a tilde (~) before their chat name. These help you recognise who is official staff on Mediumystics.
Also to check they are genuine staff you can highlight their name in chat and choose to view their profile. All genuine staff will have Staff Member under their profile.
The following hats are used in the Chatrooms at Mediumystics:
M~ = Room Monitor
H~ = Room Helper
R~ = Readers
AR~ Approved Reader
T~ = Teachers
SH~ = Spiritual Healers
Do not hesitate to contact any staff if you have any questions or problems.

(Q.) Who can and who cannot read in the rooms?.

Everyone is welcome to Read in Mediumystics, from the people just starting out learning to the experienced, but there is a simple rule we ask all Readers to abide by:
If you are a guest/member or have a AR~ then you may only Read with a member of staff present in the room.
These Staff are either an H~, M~, T~ or an R~.

If an AR~ has finished their trial period and receive their R~ then they will be able to do a reading without another member of Staff present.

Please do not even think about giving out a reading without asking a Staff member First and they will make sure that a member of Staff will be present for the whole time of the reading and they will also make sure a room is allocated for you.

(Q.) Can I come in chat and ask for a reading?

If you need a reading then please ask a Staff member for a quiet word and ask them to make a note that you would like a reading.
If there are R~s in chat at the time, then normally they are more than happy to give you a reading. But it is only fair to go through Staff for the request as you can imagine on busy nights, the list can get very long!.
Also some R~s may be popping on the site to meet someone they have already agreed to do a reading for.
The worse thing you can do is to sit in any of the rooms asking for a reading time and time again. This sometimes can be seen as demanding and that does not work with Readers, let alone spirit!.
If U need a reading then please follow the simple guideline above, contact a member of Staff.

(Q.) I am confused on the different types of readings?

The two main kinds of readings on site are either Spirit or Psychic.
Spirit is when a Reader(Medium) communicates with spirit and relays their message they need to give.
It is very rare that you can demand spirit so you will see a lot of the time that the mediums on site will give the information they are receiving out to everyone.
Then if anyone can take this information, they will move off to a reading room and progress with the message that needs to be given.
If you have requested a spirit reading then please realise as we said that you cannot demand spirit, but some of the mediums on the site have the ability to tune into your energy and filter as such, spirit for the sitter. But this all depends if spirit actually is waiting to communicate to you.
So if you do ask for a spirit reading and the medium does not get anyone , then please do not be to disappointed, sometimes the time is not right either for yourself or spirit to communicate.

A Psychic reading is the Reader using their intuition/feelings to tell you what they sense and pickup about you as the sitter.
Different Psychics use different tools varying from Tarot Cards to matchsticks!. Feel free to ask the Reader what method they are going to be using or if indeed you have a specific reading in mind, then do not hesitate to ask if they can do this for you.
A lot of Psychics also get spirit pop in when they are tuning into you or during a read and you may get a mixture of both a Psychic reading and a spirit reading, so do not be surprised!.
Please note that the Reader will inform you that the Psychic Reading has now finished and that Spirit wishes to communicate when this happens.

Readers should not diagnose medical matters and if you want advice on your medical condition then please seek a qualified doctor.
You may get a Psychic pick up on a stiff shoulder or a sore hand etc etc, but this is just them tuning into your energy and is used more of a confirmation that they are tuning into you rather than diagnosing.
Also please note that Psychics cannot always predict the future!.
The main reason for this is because you have free will in life and what information you get at the time of the reading could easily not be the same a week down the line.
This is because your free will is at work, as is others around you and the direction you were heading for a week ago is maybe not where you are heading now.
The world and life does not stand still!.
A lot of Psychics if predicting the future for you, will be talking about major milestones/lessons they feel that you have set yourself while in this incarnation and can be very accurate, so do not dismiss completely!.

(Q.) Can I have a private reading without anyone else entering the room?

All Reading rooms in Mediumystics can be viewed by anyone in chat at anytime, so please be aware of this and please accept that your reading will be a Public reading that demonstrates communication is possible.
If the Reader does pick up on something you feel is delicate and do not want to share with other people in the Room, then please ask the Reader to stop and ask Staff to see if this info can be given in a non public room such as 7.

(Q.) Who are the classes for?

The classes are for everyone, again from the beginner to the professional, all are welcome and encouraged to open up their natural abilities.
Simply either sign up on the forums to receive a daily email or check the classes link from the main page for times and dates.

(Q.) Is it going to cost me any money?

NO, everything is free at Mediumystics, so come and enjoy!. The only time that Staff may push you into putting your hand in your pocket is when the site runs special charity events, such as the Readathons.
All money raised from these events goes to charity and not one penny goes towards the maintenance of this site.

(Q.) What are the different room numbers for?

We have 10 rooms in the chat area of Mediumystics and will cover all of them below. You are welcome to pop in most of the rooms at any time and watch what is going on. The only two rooms that you cannot enter without being asked to are Room 6 and Room 7.
Please be quiet when entering the rooms as a reading or class maybe taking place.
The rooms and a short description are listed below:

Room1 (General Chat)
This is the main meeting room of Mediumystics, where everyone meets and is welcome to discuss anything within reason. If the topic sways towards being offensive then do not be surprised if one of the Staff drop a friendly hint to change the subject.
Also some Readers will give info they have in room 1 and once they have found their sitter, will ask them to move to one of the official reading rooms.

Room2 (Spiritual Chat)
This room again is for general chat but more towards spiritual topics.
So if people are not in the mood for general banter and want to talk and understand subjects on spirit, or want to chat about their experiences and the path they are on, then this is the place.
Also some people may find that certain topics covered in room 1 sometimes can offend and this is a safe haven for more sensitive among us.
Please respect this and use room 1 for general day to day chat.

Room3 (Spirit Reading)
Spirit readings take place in this room.

This room is for spirit readings but can be used for other readings at the Staff's discretion.
Most Readers who get spirit will either give the information in Room 1 and if they find a sitter then move to this room, or they may indeed give information to people already sat in the Room watching, to find their sitter.
Also if a Reader wishes to try and pick up on spirit for someone, they may invite them into this room for this purpose.
When entering this room, please be very silent as a reading may be going on.
If no reading is going on in this room then you are welcome to use it for light chat, but please respect any reader entering to either give information or entering to proceed with a reading by immediately being silent!.

Room4 (Healing)
The Healing room is for people needing healing or counselling,
Please do not expect to see readings in this room or indeed use it for readings.
This is a special place that is needed and used by many healers on the site.
If spirit comes through in Healing circle and Staff allow it, and deem it appropriate then you may see readings during circle. But in general the above guideline applies.
Weekly healing circles are held in this room and as usual all are welcome.


Room5 (Tarot)
Psychic readings take place in this room.

This room is for Psychic readings but can be used for other readings at the Staff's discretion.
If you have requested a Psychic reading and a Reader is available, then this is the room you will be asked to move to.
When entering this room, please be very silent as a reading may be going on.

If no reading is going on in this room then you are welcome to use it for light chat, but please respect any reader entering to either give information or entering to proceed with a reading by immediately being silent!.

Room6 (Staff Only)
This room is password protected and only Staff have access, please do not request the password for this area and if you tune into one of the Staff's minds, then please let them know, so we can change it!

Room7 (Staff Invitation)
If Staff need to talk to you, away from the main rooms for any reason, then this is where you will be requested to come.
This is not a general room for use by visitors of the site and please only pop in here if Staff invite you to.

Room8 (Cleansing/Dreams)
If you wish to have a dream interpreted or explained to you by one of our experienced Staff then please as with a reading, request via Staff.
When someone is available then this is where you will be asked to go.
This room is also used by experienced Visitors and Staff for balancing and cleansing as needed.
If you are offered this service by someone then please check with Staff that the room is available and also they will be able to answer any questions you may have.
If no activity is going on in this room then you are welcome to use it for light chat, but please respect any one entering it, to use it as designed.

Room9 (Discussion)
Often we find that certain topics have varying views by a number of people and rather than jam up the main chat rooms with one topic, you may sometimes be asked to move the discussion to this room!.
Also some classes are based around discussion sessions and this is the room that will be used.
If no activity is going on in this room then you are welcome to use it for light chat, but please respect any one entering it, to use it as designed.

Room10 (Teaching/Classes)
This room is for classes and all are welcome. Please see above, (Q.) Who are the classes for?
When entering this room, please be very silent as a Class may be going on.
When a class has started, please do not disturb or greet anyone in the rooms.
During a breather then hi's and bye's may be exchanged and usually it is the Teacher that instigates this.
If no activity is going on in this room then you are welcome to use it for light chat, but please respect any one entering it, to use it as designed.

(Q.) Can I join more than one room at a time?
Yes, just simply highlight the room you wish to enter and click on the Join button. Another window will appear. Now comes the fun of dragging the multiple windows around until they fit your screen!

(Q.) Can I browse the web site while in the Chat Rooms?
Yes but you will need to open up a separate Browser window. If you click on the links while in chat then you will get disconnected.

(Q.) What do the abbreviations in chat that people use such as ((((((Room))))))) mean?

Here are a few:
(((( name )))) is cuddles for that person or people.
LOL is Laugh Out Loud.
ROFL is Roll On Floor Laughing.
WB is Welcome Back.
WD is Well Done.
There are many more, but these are some of the popular ones you will see.

(Q.) What is banning?
The Chat Rooms will sometimes drop your connection, This is not Staff kicking you out or banning you but just the Chat servers having a bad day. If this happens then simply re-connect. If you get a message saying your name is already in use, then please give it a couple of minutes as the server still thinks you are logged in.
If you mis-behave in the rooms and have done something that is not correct within the Site Guidelines then you could get banned by a member of Staff and ejected from the
chat rooms. It does not get used that much believe it or not!!, but on the sad occasion it does, you will receive a notice on your screen informing you.
If you do not receive this message then you can take it as a bad server day.
